Internship Programs in the Biopharmaceutical Industry and Clinical Research
The situation within the industry is dire, simply because the
Biopharmaceutical industry, unlike other professions, cannot afford to hire
graduates straight out of college or university. Despite their skills and
specialized academic training, they are unlikely to possess the necessary
training to undertake a biotech or clinical research position. Any biotech
company requires some experience but unfortunately, academia does not supply
enough graduates with the specific training or experience to fully acquiesce
into a new position within the biopharmaceutical industry. The difference
within the industry is quite drastic because training programs are quite
rare and due to the fact that training programs are difficult to gain access
to necessitates an active involvement by the industry . Furthermore,
clinical research degrees are extremely rare despite all of the academic
research that takes place within universities. As such, it is difficult to
ensure that individuals that apply to companies possess the necessary skills
that are required to fulfill any new opening within a company. Either way,
specialized training is something that needs to be explored, and currently
there are not enough individuals to assume all of the roles that currently
exist in today's market. Therefore, the industry is forced to take care of
itself. Individuals that possess the necessary academic skills and
experience are sought after in an environment conducive to extreme
recruitment conditions, thus, requiring an individual with not only the
capacity but the willingness to engage in the competitive waters that the
industry offers.
As such the industry offers different training courses and programs to help
fresh graduates obtain the pivotal knowledge and IBPA has selected and
approved KRGI Training as the industry standard by which all other programs
are measured. For example, training is simply the first elementary step in
obtaining the industry standards of excellence. Simply retaining this
information is insufficient for ensuring adequate employment. Information
is only the first step in securing a solid foundation within the industry,
and it is important to gain site and industry specific knowledge to affirm
the knowledge gained from academic experience. Along with their own
training, Kriger Research Group
International, a major International
Contract Research Organization, IBPA, has developed internship programs that
can help facilitate the hands-on aspects of clinical research coordination
and monitoring. As such, quality assurance and regulatory affairs have
become a natural progression of involvement within the industry and
clinical/data management is supported by such complex tactics and reliant
protocols. The experience interns gain is invaluable and is seen not only
in the tasks they are asked to performed but the impact their duties have on
the progression of actual clinical trials. Internships provide exclusive
access to project protocols or assignments that would otherwise but
unavailable to university graduates. Therefore, access to such programs is
crucial for sustaining the knowledge gained from specific training and
utilizing it in real world situations that are offered by

opportunities. IBPA is confident that its efforts to organize such
internship programs on the basis that it is one of the most well developed
CRO's across the industry, that IBPA can provide the biopharmaceutical
industry and the clinical research society with a workforce that is not only
qualified but experienced to address the challenges that any industry
presents thereby providing a skilled and better equipped workforce across
the spectrum of job opportunities that become available. If you possess the
skills to address the needs of the biopharmaceutical industry, IBPA and KRC
Inc. are willing to invest in not only your development, but the progression
of the industry.
