In
enviromental policy, a
proponent is a person or
organization that proposes
carrying out an activity that may
have an effect on the environment
(an "undertaking").
In authorities such as those in
Nova Scotia, the proponent of
an undertaking has certain
resposibilties to the local and
national government to submit to
environmental assessment prior
to making the undertaking.
