Effervescence is the
escape of gas from a liquid
solution.It is the rapid
evolution of
gas bubbles during a
reaction.
A common example of
effervescence is the addition of
hydrochloric acid to a block
of
limestone. If you put a few
pieces of
marble or an
antacid tablet in hydrochloric
acid in a
test tube fitted with a
cork,you can witness the
effervescence of
carbon dioxide.
